AIOU announces HSSC results sem Autumn-09

Islamabad: Final results of Intermediate (FA/F.Sc) programmes for the Semester Autumn, 2009 had been declared on 26th August, 2010 but result intimation card have not yet been dispatched to students as postal communication system has also been disturbed by worst flood condition, this has announced by Hafeez-Ullah, Controller of Exams, Allama Iqbal Open University, says a press release here on Tuesday.

Punjab Education dept & Unicef relief efforts

Lahore: Some 2,863 schools in 11 flood-hit districts of Punjab have been damaged, declares the education department. “With a view to restoring normal functioning of schools in flood-affected areas, a comprehensive action plan is being prepared in collaboration with Unicef,” said a statement issued by the department here on Thursday.

Under the programme, the teachers of flood-affected schools had been directed to join their duties and make arrangements for cleanliness and necessary repairs of school buildings so that academic activities could be restarted after summer vacation.

Govt seeks report of school-buildings’ damages

Lodharan: The Punjab government has sought a complete report of the damages done by flood to primary and high schools in the flood-hit areas.

According to sources, the education department Punjab has directed the DCOs and EDOs educations to submit a report about damages occurred in flood to various buildings of primary and high schools.
They have also been directed to inform about furnitures and other equipments damaged in the flood.

KU sets up IDP Relief Fund

Karachi: The Karachi University has set up an IDP Relief Fund.

A spokesman of the institution said on Wednesday that the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, has appealed to the faculty members, non-teaching staff as well as the students to contribute towards the fund for the flood victims in the country.
He said that the donations may be deposited in the United Bank Limited account number 373-0011-9.

Rs. 974m for 15,204 school councils

The Punjab government has earmarked Rs 974 million under a capacity-building programme for 15,204 councils of primary and elementary schools in the province.

CM’s Taskforce on Elementary Education’s Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar said here Sunday that the councils could be instrumental in improving and arranging missing facilities in public sector schools as well as ensuring quality education.
Under the capacity building programme, he added, primary and elementary schools are being given priority as this tier of education is the backbone of the system.

Three-day calligraphy workshop concludes

The 3-day calligraphy workshop concluded here on Wednesday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) featuring various modes and techniques of calligraphic art.
Renowned Calligrapher M D Alvi conducted the workshop while 25 students from various educational institutions of twin cities and amateur artists participated.

Various sessions of the workshop focussed on the basic theory and practice of calligraphy including traditional and contemporary techniques of the art.

Choosing the right university

As the BISE has announced results for intermediate, most of the students are running from pillar to post for relevant guidance related to different institutes and universities.
Unfortunately, students of our country live in an academic environment, which severely lacks career counseling. Moreover, our course books are so narrow in scope, that the students are unable to choose a proper career path.

NAB raids education board chairman’s house

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s education minister ordered an inquiry on Tuesday after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recovered thousands of papers in a raid at the house of Malakand Education Board Chairman Nawab Khattak.
NAB acted after getting the information that Nawab Khattak had kept grade 9 and 10’s papers at his home illegally.

NAB, accompanied by the anti corruption officials and local police, raided the house at Dalazak road in Peshawar. Papers were found unchecked and unsealed.
Education minister Sardar Babak Hussain reached the spot and ordered an immediate inquiry.

Examination papers postponed

KARACHI: Matric Board has postponed practical papers which were to be held on Friday due to the inclement weather forecast for the next three days.
The new date of above papers will be announced later.
Papers scheduled for tomorrow under Intermediate Board, Technical Board and University of Karachi have also been called off.
Chairman Intermediate Board postponed the papers of Islamiat and Pakistan Studies in the wake of the weather forecast of stormy season ahead. These papers will now be held on June 28.
