Q.1. UNSEEN COMPREHENSION PASSAGE

Read the following passage and answer the questions given below: (15)

PARA-1: Reports on terrorist attacks seen to be an almost regular affair. The killing innocent men and women, ordinary passengers and peace-loving residents of an area, for example is testimony to barbarism that has taken bizarre forms today. An embassy is devastated by a car bomb, another car bomb obliterates a place of worship and different political and religious leaders are gunned by assassins.

PARA-2: Committing terrorism is equated with an achievement worthy of honour and many are scrambling to be the most militant.

PARA-3: True, terrorims generates terror but it can never serve a purpose. The terrorists do not want the restoration of normalcy or negotiations leading to peaceful settlement of issues. Acts of terrorism make rapprochement impossible.

PARA-4: Countries today have adopted counter-terrorist measures but terrorism continues to plague the world. As force begets force and action brings reaction, the aim should not be to avenge terrorism but to stop it. Of course doing nothing is a sure way to invite more atrocities. Therefore, all nations should act together to combat this international evil. For this the initiative should come from the U.N.O. Perhaps the effective intervention of the U.N.O and the strict implementation of international laws in force will enable the world to see the end of international terrorims.

That image took root in the public imagination. in the 1930′s Hollywood built it into a nightmare with the film King Kong in which a gigantic ape was captured and then eventually terrorized New York.

What a libel that reputation is. By nature they are gentle and inoffensive animals.

They are almost entirely vegetarian and spend their days eating leaves and juicy stems in the thick forests of Africa. They live in family groups each ruled by a big male who looks after and protects his family with great care. They are, it is true immensely strong and can rip apart banana stems and tear off the branches of trees as they need to do in order to feed. But their strengths is hardly ever used against other animals.
