Three-day calligraphy workshop concludes
The 3-day calligraphy workshop concluded here on Wednesday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) featuring various modes and techniques of calligraphic art.
Renowned Calligrapher M D Alvi conducted the workshop while 25 students from various educational institutions of twin cities and amateur artists participated.
Various sessions of the workshop focussed on the basic theory and practice of calligraphy including traditional and contemporary techniques of the art.
Having an experience of 35 years, M D Alvi holds a masters degree in Fine Arts and served the PNCA as the chief designer.
This unique workshop provided the students with the basic knowledge of calligraphy practiced in every era while they also practiced the Kufi and Nastalique Khat, said M D Alvi.
He told news agency that students practiced the writing of Quranic Verses from simple words and than exercised advanced techniques.
During the workshop, the participants also learnt about the history and development of Islamic Arts and their unique place among contemporary arts.
Director General PNCA, Tauqeer Nasir said the PNCA was focussing on various training courses for the youth from past few months and will hold such programmes on regular basis to provide a platform for the young generation to boost their talent.
